MiVa (Minä valitsen ja ympäristö tukee) project aims at investigating the means to effectively influence the choice environment and digital social interaction in mass catering, which in turn could support the customers' performance and wellbeing. Individuals make their food choices under various kinds of internal and external pressure, group pressure being one. Social interaction and the effects of the peer group have great impact on the eating behavior and on the choices made. Via mass catering it is possible to reach most age and social groups and thus, the food served in the catering services has an impact on public health. The knowhow to be accomplished in MiVa project (2016-2017) is expected to have business potential in various fields of expertise from mass catering service providers to health technology sector.
MiVa consortium includes University of Eastern Finland, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Savonia University of Applied Sciences and National Institute for Health and Welfare. The project is funded by Tekes – the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation.
