Game-based learning is an engaging and enjoyable way to educate about food quality, nutrition and health. The Games of Food -project is set to increase knowledge and awareness of balanced nutrition and healthy lifestyle through the design and application of escape games. Technion, University of Reading, University of Helsinki, University of Warsaw, The European Food Information Council (EUFIC) and VTT have been participating  in the Games of Food -project. The developed games communicate information about smart food choices and expose participants to information in a new and interesting way. The first developed game, the Zombie Attack escape game, focuses specifically on aspects of a healthy diet and raising awareness of the sources of macronutrients. It includes puzzles, which aim to provide specific and valid information about evidence-based concepts that have been shown to impact diet and health. The Mission Nutrition escape game focuses specifically on aspects of diet and lifestyle.Games of Food project has received funding from EIT Food, the innovation community on Food of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).
