15th Nordic Workshop in Sensory Science was held in Helsinki

15th Nordic Workshop in Sensory Science was held in Helsinki during 22nd–23rd of May. The event organised by VTT gathered about 100 participants from Nordic industry, sensory and consumer research and marketing fields. The theme of the event – Added Value by Sensory Approaches – was covered from several perspectives in over 20 scientific and practical presentations held by experts from industry, universities and research institutes.

The first day of the event tackled with the theme novel sensory approaches and included presentations from various Nordic and European experts. The day ended in practical group work in which the participants were able to familiarise themselves in some of the latest advances in sensory science field. The main theme in the second day was about targeting different consumer groups. During the day several presentations were held by experts from Nordic industry and academia. The topics of the presentations included consumer groups, such as children and seniors. Also more practical examples were given on how industry utilises sensory and consumer research methodologies to create added value.

The first Nordic Workshop in Sensory Science was held over 25 years ago in 1987. The event is organised in every two years in different Nordic country. In the end of the 15th event the next Nordic Workshop in Sensory Science was announced, and it will be organised in Norway in 2015.
