VTT STRENGTHENS COMPETENCE IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: New team has started

Sustainability Assessment Team has a long time expertise in applying life-cycle assessment (LCA) of different industrial systems.

Most of the team members have their background in KCL and wood fibre-based production processes. Additionally the group has strong expertise in machines and vehicles. Carbon footprint calculations are one of the main activities in Sustainability Assessment Team, both in contract work and in project work but also the importance of water footprint is growing globally and fast.

Sustainability_teamLCA competence will, however, remain as basis of all work and it is utilized in many EU-projects, where the Team members are participating. The Team has successfully started co-operation with different research areas at VTT, namely transport, wood products, building materials, climate change and biotechnology.
