Curriculum Vitae

Matej Oresic, Research Professor of Systems Biology and Bioinformatics, has been leading the research group "Quantitative Biology and Bioinformatics" at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland since 2003. Matej is also a founder and board member of Zora Biosciences (http://www.zora.fi). Matej's research interests extend from biomedical applications of metabolomics to integrative bioinformatics method development. His recent investigations include longitudinal metabolic profiles of children who progressed to Type 1 Diabetes (DIPP study), studies of statin induced myopathy, as well as investigations of lipidomic profiles associated with lipotoxicity induced insulin resistance. Prior to joining VTT, Matej was the principal scientist, computational biology and modelling at BG Medicine, Inc., Waltham, Massachusetts and bioinformatician at LION Bioscience Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Matej Orešič holds a PhD in biophysics from Cornell University.
