Curriculum Vitae

Johanna leads the Food Solutions research entity of the Nutritech programme. She works as research coordinator at VTT with special focus on food bioprocessing and biorefinery issues. Johanna has a long research history in enzymatic processing of food and non-food raw materials. Her current research activities are directed towards discovery of novel crosslinking enzymes, enzymatic food structure engineering concepts and exploitation of hydrolytic enzymes in plant biomass valorisation. She is currently acting as chair-person of COST Action 928 "Control and exploitation of enzymes for added-value products". Johanna has written 108 peer-reviewed articles in international scientific journals, over 25 book chapters and reviews.  She is a co-inventor in 13 patent families.
